Big Island police are investigating an attempted robbery which occurred on Wednesday night (July 4) in Kailua-Kona.
Shortly before midnight, a man described as a Caucasian male entered the Lako Street Chevron armed with a handgun and demanded money from the 46-year-old male cashier working behind the counter. The cashier refused the demand for money and the suspect fled from the area.
The suspect was described as being in his late teens to early 20’s, between 150 and 160 pounds, and as having a fair complexion. He was wearing a dark colored hooded sweat shirt, shorts, shoes and mirrored sunglasses.
He fled in a light colored four door sedan traveling in an unknown direction.
Police advise the public not to approach this man if they see him or know where he is.
Police ask that anyone with information on his identity or whereabouts call Detective Sean Smith at 326-4646, extension 262, or the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311.
