Media Release

Kona patrol officers responded to a report of a decomposing body Wednesday morning (May 20) in Kealakekua and found a male body in bushes just north of Mamalahoa Highway at the Keekee intersection.

The body was tentatively identified as 55-year-old David R. Harris, who had no permanent address in Kealakekua.

An autopsy conducted Thursday (May 21) confirmed the identity. Because of the condition of the body, the cause of death is undetermined pending further tests. The autopsy revealed no signs of injury or foul play.
