Detectives from the Hawai’i Police Department have initiated a coroner’s inquest case in connection with a body found on the side of a road in Kailua-Kona early Tuesday (August 4).

Kona patrol officers responded to a 4:23 a.m. report of a female body lying on the north side of Manawalea Street. The body was taken to Kona Community Hospital, where the woman was officially pronounced dead at 7:50 a.m.

She has been identified as 41-year-old Davelin Aweau [corrected spelling] of Maui.

Police found no evidence of foul play. An autopsy is being conducted today (Tuesday) to determine the exact cause of death.
