Media Release

A Kailua-Kona man has been charged with an assortment of offenses after being arrested for entering two homes without permission.

Police received two reports Sunday (May 16) from separate individuals in the Kailua View Estates subdivision. In one case, an unknown man was seen sleeping in a laundry room. In the other, an unknown man was seen entering a house.

Shortly before 6 p.m. Sunday, Police confronted 28-year-old Darren Kamu Grace inside the second house and arrested him on suspicion of unauthorized entry into a dwelling, unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle, burglary, promoting a dangerous drug, possessing drug paraphernalia and an unrelated second-degree theft.

Detectives from the Area II Criminal Investigations Section continued the investigation and arrested Grace for two additional offenses, criminal tamperiing and use of personal information.

Just before midnight Monday, detectives charged Grace with all the offenses except the second-degree theft. Police are continuing the investigation into that offense.

Grace is being held in lieu of $18,000 bail pending his initial court appearance.
