The Hawai’i Police Department is seeking witnesses to a sexual assault early Sunday morning (November 1) in Kailua-Kona.

An adult female was waiting for a ride on the makai side of Kuakini Highway around 1 a.m. when four unknown men attacked her, causing multiple injuries to her face and neck. During the attack, at least one of the men sexually assaulted her. The men are described as being in their early 20s.

Police investigation has determined that one or more persons may have seen part of the encounter without realizing a crime was in progress. Detectives are continuing the investigation.

Police ask anyone who may have witnessed this incident to call Detective Gerald Wike of the Juvenile Aid Section at 326-4646, extension 302, or the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona. All Crime Stoppers information is kept confidential.
