Media Release

Hawaii County police have arrested an 18-year-old Mexican national in connection with a reported stabbing Sunday (February 24) outside a Kona bar.

Carlos Silva-Rivero was arrested early Sunday and charged Monday (February 25) with second-degree assault and intimidating a witness.

A 45-year-old Captain Cook man reported being attacked at approximately 12:30 a.m. in the parking lot of the bar located in the Kona industrial area. He suffered puncture injuries to his shoulder and low back. After the attack, Silva-Rivero reportedly threatened to stab a 34-year-old witness if he said anything to authorities.

Police also contacted the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which began the process of deportation. Silva-Rivero is being held at the Kona police cellblock.
