Big Island police are investigating an assault in Kona on Wednesday evening.

At 7 p.m., Kona patrol officers responded to a reported stabbing in a parking lot in downtown Kailua-Kona and learned that five people had congregated where drinking was taking place and an argument broke out.

A 19-year-old Kailua-Kona man received lacerations to his body and face, and a 15-year-old Kailua-Kona girl received scratches to her left arm. Both were taken to Kona Community Hospital, where they were treated for their injuries and released.

Officers recovered a broken beer bottle believed to have been used in the assault.

The suspect, identified as 21-year-old Andrew Storseth, was last seen fleeing the parking lot toward Ali’i Drive.
