…arrested for meth trafficking

Media Release

A 36-year-old airline employee is in federal custody after being arrested in Kona for meth trafficking.

Detectives from the Hawaii Police Department’s Vice Section and agents from the Drug Enforcement Administration arrested Brandon Kawika Hinsey near his home in the Kealakehe subdivision Wednesday afternoon (October 8) for possessing more than one pound of crystal methamphetamine. The arrest was related to an investigation originating at Keahole International Airport involving domestic travel.

Two Guatemalan citizens, 30-year-old Marlon Ramirez and 32-year-old Marco Garcia, were also arrested. Both men were released Thursday morning (October 9) without charges.

DEA agents and Hawaii police detectives executed a search warrant on Hinsey’s apartment and sports-utility vehicle on Wednesday and recovered a loaded .38-caliber revolver.

On Thursday, Hinsey was transported to the federal detention center on Oahu, to face federal prosecution.
