Media Release

The Kona Crime Prevention Committee recognized Officer Scotty Aloy as "Officer of the Month" for August in a luncheon ceremony Wednesday (August 4) at King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel.

Aloy was honored for his investigation of a burglary that led to a fingerprint match to a 19-year-old man who was ultimately charged with burglary and theft.

Lieutenant Melvin Yamamoto Jr., who nominated Aloy for the award, described him as committed, diligent, thorough and "a police supervisor’s dream."

As "Officer of the Month," Aloy is eligible to become "Officer of the Year."

The Kona Crime Prevention Committee is an organization that encourages community involvement in aiding and supporting police in West Hawai’i.
