Aloha Exchange Club representative Joey Estrella presents an 'Officer of the Month' award to Officer Erhard Autrata

Media Release

The Aloha Exchange Club of East Hawai‘i recognized Officer Erhard Autrata on Thursday (May 26) as “Officer of the Month” for May.

The Hilo patrol officer was honored for what Lieutenant Robert Fujitake described as “his continued, unwavering commitment to the arresting of drunk drivers.”

In 2010 Autrata led the Hawai‘i Police Department in DUI arrests with 59. This February alone, he made 18 DUI arrests and issued 64 citations for various traffic violations, Fujitake said in nomination papers. “Autrata has made it his own personal commitment to making the roads a safer place for our friends and loved ones,” Fujitake said. “He is steadfast, reliable and a consummate professional.”

Fujitake noted that Autrata, who received a previous “Officer of the Month” award last September, hasn’t missed a day of work in the four years he’s been with the Police Department.

As “Officer of the Month,” Autrata is eligible for “Officer of the Year.”

The East Hawaii “Officer of the Month” award is a project of the Aloha Exchange Club of Hilo.
