Media Release

The Kona Crime Prevention Committee recognized Officer Jami Harper as “Officer of the Month” for March in a luncheon ceremony on Wednesday (March 7) at Huggo’s restaurant in Kailua-Kona.

Harper was honored for his investigation of car break-ins, resulting in the arrest of a male suspect for 15 offenses.

From a description of the person seen breaking into one of the cars, Harper suspected it was a man he had arrested in the past. His thorough investigation confirmed that this man was the same person responsible for an assortment of crimes. As a result, police were able to recover items the suspect had bought with stolen credit cards.

As “Officer of the Month,” Harper is eligible to become “Officer of the Year.” The Kona Crime Prevention Committee is an organization that encourages community involvement in aiding and supporting police in West Hawaiʻi.
