Media Release

The Kona Crime Prevention Committee recognized Officer William Marciniak as “Officer of the Month” for January in a luncheon ceremony Wednesday (January 5) at King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel.

Marciniak was honored for his investigation of a burglary on Ali’i Drive that included the theft of a camera.

Marciniak followed the trail of the stolen camera and linked it to a man and his girlfriend. After their arrest police discovered that the pair had in their possession a stolen credit card from another burglary. Thanks to Marciniak’s legwork, two suspects were identified for two burglaries and a stolen camera and laptop were recovered.

As “Officer of the Month,” Marciniak is eligible to become “Officer of the Year.”

The Kona Crime Prevention Committee is an organization that encourages community involvement in aiding and supporting police in West Hawai’i.
