Media Release (update No. 3)

Thirty-one-year-old Keaka D. Martin of Hilo, who was in police custody at Hilo Medical Center following his arrest for a shooting January 2 that injured two officers, has been discharged from the hospital.

Martin is being held at the Hilo police cellblock with no bail pending his initial court appearance scheduled for Friday afternoon (January 11).

Martin was charged on January 4 with two counts of first-degree attempted murder, second-degree reckless endangering, place to keep a firearm, possessing a loaded firearm on a highway, two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, ownership/possession of a firearm prohibited, and altering the identification markings on a firearm.
