Media Release

The Hawai’i Police Department is investigating the theft of a hydraulic hammer from a storage shed in North Kohala.

The victim reported that sometime between June 27 and July 3, unknown persons removed a yellow, Kent, model KHB8G hydraulic hammer with the serial number 6XN036 from his property in Hawi. The hammer, valued at $8,000, attaches to a backhoe and is used to break rocks. Because of its weight, at least three people would be required to lift it.

Police ask that anyone with information about this theft or the location of the stolen equipment call Officer Paul Nagata at 889-6540, or the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311. Tipsters who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 329-8181 in West Hawai’i or 961-8300 in East Hawai’i
