A 37-year-old Holualoa man is in police custody in connection with a reported break-in at a Kailua-Kona bar Tuesday (March 18).

Police received the report at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday. Upon arrival, officers determined that after the bar closed around 3 a.m., someone entered the premises, destroyed nearly all the liquor bottles, damaged furniture, smashed toilets and destroyed numerous other items.

Investigation determined that the suspect had been in the bar prior to closing and had threatened to destroy the bar.

At 1 p.m. Tuesday, police arrested Anthony Gallacher at his home. Upon his arrest, police recovered a firearm for which Gallacher had no permit or registration.

On Thursday, Gallacher was charged with first-degree criminal property damage, first-degree terroristic threatening and two firearms charges. He is being held at the Kona police cellblock in lieu of $12,000 bail pending a court appearance.
