The Hawaii Police Department is asking for the public’s help in providing information about a 1991 homicide.

The body of 16-year-old Jonelle Auna was discovered in Kona on October 24, 1991. She was a runaway from the Puna area.  

Police ask anyone with information about this case to call Detective Sharlotte Bird of the Kona Criminal Investigations Section at 326-4646, extension 272, or the Police Department’s non-emergency number at 935-3311.

Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 329-8181 in Kona or 961-8300 in Hilo. Callers to Crime Stoppers will be given a coded number and their identity will remain anonymous. Callers who provide information that leads to an arrest or indictment may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000. Crime Stoppers neither subscribes to "Caller ID" nor records phone calls.
