MEDIA RELEASE

The Hawaii Police Department’s Traffic Services Section and Hawaii Isle Police Activities League recently sponsored a “Click It or Ticket” 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament at Mt. View Gym.

A total of 250 youngsters ages 5 through 14 took part as players on 55 basketball teams.

The 5-6 and 8-Under divisions featured goodwill games between 20 teams.

In the 9-10 division, Boys & Girls Club Kings ousted the Lakers 11-4 to claim the title. The boys & Girls Club Kings Red team finished in third place.

In the 11-12 Boys Division, Warriors Blue I outgunned Warriors Blue II by a score of 15-7 to garner the title. Island Heat finished third.

The 11-12 Girls Division saw the Wahine Warriors outplay Hoaloha Red 15-3 to capture the title with Eastside finishing third.

In the 13-14 Girls Division, Kamehameha defeated Zoom 18-11 for the championship, and the Warriors finished third.

“The ‘Click It or Ticket’ Tournament is a positive forum to promote seatbelt use among young people and their parents,” said Lieutenant James Sanborn, Community Policing coordinator.

The event was a collaborative effort between the Hawaii Police Department and the County Parks and Recreation Department.
