Media Release

Big Island police are trying to locate the owners of stolen property recovered during burglary investigations in the Ka‘ū District. The items were recovered from burglary suspects in Na‘alehu, Discovery Harbour and the Green Sand subdivision.

The burglaries started three to four months ago.

Police have linked some of the stolen items to four different victims but have yet to link additional items to specific victims. Some of the burglaries may have gone unreported.

Burglary victims in the affected areas are asked to call Sergeant Cory Koi or Officer John Smith at 939-2520 and be prepared to describe any of the following stolen items:

  • 2 car stereos
  • 5 solar panels
  • 3 car batteries
  • 1 fishing reel
  • 1 arc welder

Police again remind the public about the importance of marking or engraving their property and recording serial numbers to increase the likelihood that their stolen property will be returned in the event of a burglary.
