MEDIA RELEASE

Hilo police are asking for the victim of a car break-in Sunday (April 29, 2001) to call them so they can return a stolen jacket that belongs to him.

Police have also arrested three suspects — two men and a woman — for unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle after they allegedly broke into three vehicles parked at the Prince Kuhio Shopping Plaza.

Police said they have found a jacket stolen from one of the victims, described as an elderly male who owns a white Pontiac sedan, in a vehicle belonging to one of the suspects. The victim is asked to call the Hilo Patrol Division at 961-2311 or Detective Benton Bolos of the Hilo Criminal Investigation Section at 961-2385.

Police said witnesses told them they had observed the suspects break into at least three vehicles about 11 a.m. The suspects were being held Sunday afternoon for questioning by Hilo CIS detectives.
