MEDIA RELEASE

Big Island police have arrested a 26-year-old man wanted for escape in Washington State.

The suspect, identified as Carl William Lindsey, was arrested Wednesday (September 8, 2004) in Naalehu, Ka’u, and county prosecutors have begun extradition proceedings against him.

Lindsey was wanted by Washington authorities after he failed to report to the Department of Corrections in Cowlitz County after being released from the Washington Correctional Center on March 31, 2004. Lindsey is a convicted child sex offender and has convictions in three different states for theft, shoplifting, burglary, felony assault and sexual assault.

He is currently being held without bail in the Hilo police cellblock pending extradition proceedings.
