The Hawaii Police Department’s DARE+ (Drug Abuse Resistance Education Program — Play Learn Under Supervision) is sponsoring four open gym sessions for Big Island middle school students during spring break.
Students in 6th, 7th and 8th grade are encouraged to play basketball, kickball or frisbee, listen to music or just hang out at the Pahoa High and Intermediate School gym on Monday, March 17, and Monday March 24 and at the Keaau Intermediate School gym on Wednesday, March 19, and Tuesday, March 25. All sessions are from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
This is an opportunity for parents to leave their children to play under the supervision of School Resource Officers.
Students who plan to spend all day at the events should pack a lunch. Some light refreshments will be provided.
