Big Island police are seeking the public’s help in identifying the person or persons who desecrated a private cemetery in Halawa in North Kohala.

Police received an 8:35 a.m. report Monday (August 7, 2006) from a family member who discovered while cleaning the cemetery that someone had dug into one of the graves. North Kohala Police are investigating the case as a desecration.

Police ask anyone with any information about the case to call Officer Dale Ku from the North Kohala district at 889-6540 or the police non-emergency number at 935-3311.

Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona. All Crime Stoppers information is kept confidential.
