MEDIA RELEASE

The Hawaii Police Department’s Drug Interdiction Task Force working in conjunction with the United States Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration has established a telephone “Hotline” where the public can assist law enforcement in apprehending individuals involved in the smuggling of methamphetamine or “Ice” and other illegal drugs into the State of Hawaii.

The Drug Interdiction Task Force was created, in 2004, with assistance of grant funds from the Hawaii Community Foundation. The unit is comprised of 3 federally deputized police officers and a Special Agent with the US Drug Enforcement Administration. The Task Force is responsible for the enforcement of the trafficking of narcotics and other illegal drugs through the airports, freight and parcel services, and other venues, on the island of Hawaii.

Persons with information regarding the trafficking of illegal drugs into the State of Hawaii can call the Hawaii Police Department’s Drug Interdiction Task Force at phone 326-9539. All calls and information will be kept strictly confidential.
