Fire Destroys Home in Kailua-Kona 06/01/00

A house in Kailua-Kona was destroyed by fire Thursday (June 1, 2000).

Responding to a 12:29 p.m. call, police and fire units arrived to find the house, located at 75-208 B Kalani Street, engulfed in flames.

Fire officials said the house and its contents were a total loss. Damages to the structure were estimated $90,000 and to its contents $30,000.

Fire investigators are investigating the cause of the blaze.

The occupants said they were outside when they heard a loud noise and then saw flames inside. No one was injured in the fire.

The owner and occupant of the house was identified as Malia Tanimoto, 23.
