Big Island police are asking for the public’s help in identifying any witnesses to a robbery Saturday (September 25) at the 76 gas station at the corner of Ainako Avenue and Kaumana Drive in Hilo around 7:45 p.m.

A male wearing a dark sweatshirt and dark pants reportedly entered the gas station, brandished a knife and demanded money. He then fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. He was last ween running up Ainako Avenue.

Occupants of dark Scion with after-market rims that was seen in the gas station’s parking lot during the robbery are possible witnesses.

Police ask that anyone with the identity of the occupants of the Scion call Officer Donovan Kohara or Officer Clive Okino at the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona. All Crime Stoppers information is kept confidential.
