Hawaii Police detectives are renewing a request for help from the public.

Police need to speak to a Good Samaritan who gave a man and a woman a ride to >>North> >Hawaii> >Community> >Hospital>> in Waimea early Sunday morning (July 16, 2006).  The Good Samaritan picked the pair up shortly after midnight near the 16-mile marker on the mauka side of the road between Waimea and Kona.

The woman who was picked up had a severe head injury. She was the survivor of a collision that resulted in the death of two other women.

Police have arrested Vernon Costa for one count of murder in the first degree, two counts of murder in the second degree and one count of attempted murder in the second degree in connection with the crash.

Police are requesting that the Good Samaritan, and anyone else with information about this case, call Detective Mark Haggerty of the Kona Criminal Investigation Section at 326-4646 extension 277.
