The Hawaii Police Commemorative Fund announced the recipients of two scholarships offered through the University of Hawaii at Hilo during a recent ceremony at the campus center.
Taralee Marbry, a junior at the University of Hawaii at Hilo, was recently awarded the “Kenneth K. Keliipio Memorial Scholarship” which is in the amount of $1,200.00 and funded by the Hawaii Police Commemorative Fund through its annual fundraising events.
She is majoring in Administration of Justice where she has maintained a 3.32 grade point average. Upon completion of studies at the UHH, she plans to pursue a law enforcement career with the federal government. Marbry is a 2003 graduate from Keaau High School
Marbry said that she is thankful for the scholarship, which has helped financially toward realizing her long-term objective and has also provided “encouragement and support to continue to de well in college.”
Keri Kimura, a senior at UHH was awarded the $1,200.00 Ronald “Shige” Jitchaku Scholarship during the same ceremony.
Kimura is majoring in Administration of Justice and Political Science where she is maintaining a 3.66 grade point average. Her career ambition is to work with youth in the Big Island communities. She graduated in 2002 Summa Cum Laude from Waiakea High School.
Kimura expressed her gratitude for the scholarship, which has helped financially, as she would have had to work full time, which would have prevented her from attending UHH.
