The Hawaii Police Department’s Traffic Services Section and Hawaii Isle Police Activities League (HI-PAL)are sponsoring A “Click It or Ticket” three-on-three Basketball Tournament on August 26-27, 2006, at the Konawaena Gym.

Team entries are being accepted in the following age groups for both boys’ and girls’ divisions: 7-8,9-10,11-12,13-14. Entries are also being accepted for girls only in the 12-and-under and 14-and-under divisions.

The age cut-off date is December 31, 2006. A participant may play only in one division.

“Click It or Ticket” is a national educational and enforcement campaign to increase seat belt use and decrease traffic fatalities and injuries. “The goal of the tournament is to educate our parents and youths on our stability laws,” said Sergeant Dexter Veriato, head of the Police Department’s Traffic Services Section.

Teams wishing to participate are encouraged to call the HI-PAL Kona Office at 326-4646 Ext. 258 or 259. Each division will be limited and teams will be required to complete a registration packet prior to the tournament. Completed packets and registration must be turned in by August 25, 2006. They may be turned in between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. at the Kealakehe Police Station.
