Kealakehe Intermediate and St. Joseph Intermediate captured division titles in the Boys Intermediate East-West Basketball Tournament held recently by the Hawaii Isle Police Activities League in Hilo.

In the A Division, Kealakehe cruised by Hilo Intermediate 49-35 to claim the division crown. Kyle Teves was the high scorer for Kealakehe with 26 points, while Cheynne Hirota scored 13 points for Hilo.

Waiakea Intermediate squeezed by the Waiakea Titans 32-31 to win third place in the division. Roger Carvalho and Sean Soriano scored 12 and 10 points each for Waiakea. The Titans were led by Kawika Yoneda with 15 points.

Members of the champion Kealakehe Intermediate team are Teves, Cody Henriques, Adam Palacat, Dusty Esteban, Eddie Lee, Loa Paao, Easton Takata, Johnny Armstrong, Hinano Lino, James Andrews and Ehitu Keeling. They were coached by Terry Takata, who was assisted by Mark Henriques and Martin Esteban.

St. Joseph captured the B Division title by outscoring Paauilo 37-24. Paul Wright led St. Joseph with 17 points.

The Waiakea Titans beat the Hilo Intermediate Spartans 34-23 to win third place in the B Division.

Members of the St. Joseph team are Wright, Kody Bettis, Kauhane Castro, Brandon Estrella, Nathan Rubio, Keldon Waltjen, Michael Gomes, Austin Cypriano, Kaena Leialoha, Joshua Pacheco and Christ Watt. They were coached by Ron Yasso, who was assisted by Peter Anderson and Mark Aragaki.
