MEDIA RELEASE

The Hawaii Isle Police Activities League is registering teams for its 1999 HI-PAL Summer Basketball League.

The league will start on June 21 and end on August 31, 1999.

The league is open to Boys and Girls 6-7 (Novice), 7-8 (Advance), 9-10 (Novice and Advance), 11-12 and 13-14. There will also be Girls Elementary (grades 3-6) and Intermediate (6-9) divisions.

Players may participate in only one division. The cutoff date for eligibility for age and class divisions is December 31, 1999. Those who have played for their high school will be ineligible.

The deadline for registration is June 21, 1999.

There will be a mandatory meeting of coaches for the 8 and under, 9 and 10 and Girls Elementary and Intermediate divisions. The meeting, to start at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 2, will be held at the Boys and Girls Club. The topics to be discussed are league format, rules and regulations and starting date.

The number of teams in each division is limited. Teams interested in entering the league are asked to call the HI-PAL office at 961-2220 or 961-2219 as soon as possible.
