MEDIA RELEASE

The Hawaii Island Police Activities League is sponsoring its annual HI-PAL Boys and Girls Intermediate School Basketball League.

The HI-PAL staff is looking to begin league play in September and conclude it in November. Teams are formed within public or private intermediate schools with the help of the HI-PAL staff and play against other intermediate school teams.

All registered seventh and eighth grade students will go through a draft system within their respective schools. Home school students and schools that cannot form a team will be placed on teams with insufficient players. This league is open to seventh and eighth grade students only and no organized teams will be allowed. Each participant will represent an intermediate or middle school.

HI-PAL is also seeking responsible adults interested in coaching a team in the intermediate school program. Interested adults may call the HI-PAL office at 961-2219. A mandatory meeting for all coaches will be held at a later date.

For additional information or answers to questions, call the HI-PAL office at 961-2219 or 961-2220.
