Hilo church damaged in apparent hit-and-run 04-13-04

Hilo police are investigating a case in which a truck apparently ran into the main building of the Church of the Holy Cross on West Lanikaula Street sometime late Monday or early Tuesday (April 12-13, 2004).

Investigators said that although the vehicle left the scene, it also left behind half of its front bumper with a Mazda B-2000 emblem on it.

The crash knocked a hole in the wall of the church building, but there was no immediate estimate of damage.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has information about the incident is asked to call Officer Tod Bello at 961-2213 or the police non-emergency number at 935-3311.
