A 69-year-old Hilo man died Tuesday (July 18, 2000) of injuries he suffered in a one-car accident.

The victim was identified as Robert W. Mushlitz, of a Kinoole Street address.

Responding to a 1:32 p.m. call, police officers determined that Mushlitz was traveling south on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) when he lost control of his 1987 Lincoln Town Car, which struck a concrete column of the Papaikou overpass fronting Kalanianaole School.

The Traffic Enforcement Unit is continuing an investigation into the accident and has ordered an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
