With repairs completed on Komohana Street, Hilo traffic will return to normal Thursday (February 8, 2001) after three months of altered traffic patterns.

Because of flood damage caused by heavy rains on the night November 30 and morning of December 1, 2000, Komohana Street was closed to traffic between Mohouli and Ponahawai Streets.

Motorists traveling toward the Waiakea area from the Kaumana area via Komohana were diverted makai down Ponahawai Street.

Motorists driving to town from the Waiakea area via Komohana were diverted makai on Mohouli Street.
