Hilo Vice Officers Arrest Three for Drugs 10-17-00

Hilo Vice Section officers arrested three persons Tuesday (October 17, 2000) on a variety of drug charges after they raided an apartment in the Hilo area.

Acting on a search warrant at 10:05 a.m., vice officers raided Apartment 105 of the Orchid Manor on Kalanianaole Avenue in Hilo’s Keaukaha area.

During the raid, vice officers recovered 13.5 grams of crystal methamphetamine, or “ice,” 9.4 grams of dry marijuana, 0.6 grams of “crack” cocaine, 6 soma pills and packets, smoking pipes, a scale and containers. They also recovered a glass cup that was in the process of converting methamphetamine to “ice” with a gross weight of 44.1 grams.

In addition, the officers seized $1,921 in cash for forfeiture.

The suspects, a woman, 45, and two men, 43 and 39, were released pending further investigation.

The vice raid was the second in little more than a week in which officers arrested suspects for possession of crystal methamphetamine, or “ice.”

On Monday, October 9, 2000, vice officers raided a residence at 120 Kaieie Place in Hilo and arrested eight men and four women. They also seized a variety of illicit drugs.
