…promoted to captain

Chief Harry Kubojiri has promoted Mitchell Kanehailua to the rank of captain, effective last Friday (April 16).

Kanehailua is commander of the Hāmākua and North Hilo Districts. Before his promotion, he was lieutenant in charge of the Area I Criminal Investigations Section.

Captain Randy Apele, who previously commanded the Hāmākua and North Hilo Districts, is now in charge of training in the Administrative Services Section of the Administrative Bureau. He replaces Duane Rapoza, who retired at the end of March.
