Detectives from the Hawaii Police Department are investigating an attempted murder in Ka’u.

Ka’u patrol officers responded to call Sunday (October 26) shortly after 11 p.m. reporting an injured man requiring assistace. Preliminary investigation revealed that a 33-year-old Hawaii Ocean View Estates man was exiting his property on a motorcycle when he was intentionally struck by a gold sports-utility vehicle operated by a 34-year-old man. The driver then got out of the SUV and struck the victim on the head with a rock.

The suspect and a 28-year-old woman left the area in the SUV. Both were known to the victim.

The victim was taken to Kona Community Hospital for treatment of his injuries, including head injuries and a compound fracture to his left femur. He was later transferred to The Queens Medical Center on Oahu.

Shortly after 7 a.m., police detectives recovered the gold SUV near the scene of the attack. Detectives from the Area II Criminal Investigations Section are continuing the investigation.
