Big Island police are investigating a burglary Sunday (May 6) in the Discovery Harbour subdivision in Ka’u.

Police responded to a 9:51 p.m. report of a burglary in progress on Hekau Street in Discovery Harbour and learned that a masked man entered a home brandishing a knife and confronted the occupant, who was forced to the ground by the knife-wielding suspect.

The suspect removed several items before leaving.

During the robbery, the victim male victim escaped, fled to a neighboring house and called police. He was not injured in the robbery.

The suspect is described as 5-foot-8, about 165 pounds with a medium build and a dark complexion.

The investigation as been turned over to detectives from the Criminal Investigations Section in Area II.

Police ask anyone with information about this case to call the Police Department’s non-emergency number at 935-3311.
