A 52-year-old Ka’u man was killed Tuesday (November 22, 2005)from injuries he sustained after being struck by a vehicle being operated by a 41-year-old female of Waiohinu, at the Kahuku scenic lookout in Ka’u.

The victim was identified as Leonard Kainoa Sr. of a Naalehu address.

Traffic Enforcement Unit Officers in conjunction with Kona Criminal Investigation Section Detectives have initiated a standard negligent homicide investigation and have ordered an autopsy to determine exact cause of death.
