Police traffic investigators have identified a 43-year-old Ocean View man who died Thursday (December 4) after being struck by a motor vehicle on Hokulani Boulevard in the Hawaiian Ocean View Ranchos subdivision in the Ka’u District.

The victim was identified as John Patrick Burns of an Ocean View address.

An autopsy conducted Friday (December 5) at Kona Community Hospital showed that Burns died due to multiple traumatic injuries which were consistent with being struck by a vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle fled after the collision.

Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the driver and location of the vehicle in this case.
