Kau male suffers apparent gunshot wound 09-16-05

On September 16, 2005, at about 10:50 a.m., Ka’u police were called to investigate a reported shooting in Hawaiian Ocean View Estates, Kahuku, Ka’u. Upon arrival officers learned that a 43-year old male, from Hawaiian Ocean View Estates, had received superficial wounds to the upper part of his body from an apparent gunshot.

The victim was first transported to the Ka’u Hospital by fire rescue before being transferred to the Hilo Medical Center for additional treatment. The victim is listed in good condition and is expected to recover fully from his injuries.

An Attempted Murder investigation was initiated. Detectives from the Kona Criminal Investigation Section, are continuing the investigation assisted by Officers from the Ka’u Patrol Division and Detectives from the Hilo Criminal Investigation Section.

The motive for this incident is still under investigation and positive identification of the suspect(s) is pending.
