A Honoka’a woman is in police custody following a reported kidnapping Sunday evening (June 13).

A 21-year-old Hōnaunau woman reported late Sunday that she had been at a male friend’s house in Captain Cook around 7:15 p.m. when a woman she didn’t know threatened her, assaulted her with a knife, cut some of her hair and instructed her to get into a car with herself and two other women. The car left Captain Cook and made a stop at a gas station in the Kaloko Industrial area and another stop at a gas station in Waimea. At the second gas station, the victim exited the car and called 911.

She suffered superficial lacerations to her neck and upper chest but did not require treatment.

At 11:50 p.m. South Kohala patrol officers arrested 35-year-old Kuulei Aloha Ancheta, who is the ex-girlfriend of the man the victim was visiting. Ancheta is being held at the Kona police cellblock while detectives from the Area II Criminal Investigations Section continue the investigation into possible charges of kidnapping, terroristic threatening and assault.
