On Wednesday (July 7) at 2:50 p.m., Hawai’i Police Department patrol officers responded to a reported assault on Painted Church Road in South Kona.

Officers determined that the victim, a 50-year-old Captain Cook man, had confronted two local males in what the victim deemed a suspicious vehicle. The victim exited his car to write down the license plate of the suspect car, when the suspects exited their car and assaulted the victim, punching and kicking him. The suspect then fled the scene.

The victim was taken to Kona Community Hospital, where he was treated and released.

Kona Patrol is continuing the investigation.
