…charged with assault

Media Release

Big Island police have charged a man in connection with an assault last month in Kailua-Kona.

On February 12, Kona patrol officers responded to a report of an assault victim at Kona Community Hospital. Officers determined that the victim, a 21-year-old man from Kailua-Kona, had sustained multiple lacerations during a confrontation with another man earlier that morning in the parking lot of King Kamehameha Center in Kailua-Kona. The victim was treated for his injuries and released.

Wednesday morning (March 3), detectives with the Area II Criminal Investigations Section arrested 29-year-old Saul Villamil-Roque, a Mexican citizen living in Kailua-Kona. He was charged at 12:45 p.m. Thursday (March 4) with second-degree assault.

He is being held in the Kona police cellblock in lieu of $10,000 bail.
