MEDIA RELEASE

Kona police are investigating a burglary Saturday (August 19, 2006) in the Kona Sunset subdivision that occurred sometime between 7:35 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. while the owners were away.

One or more persons entered a home through an open window and removed numerous pieces of jewelry and two koa ukuleles. One instrument was a Kamaka brand ukulele valued at $600. The other ukulele was valued at $300.

The jewelry had a combined value of $100,000. Included among the pieces taken were six Ming bracelets and one diamond bangle bracelet.

Police ask anyone with information about the stolen items or any other information about the case to call the Kona police station at 326-4646, extension 253. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona. All Crime Stoppers information is kept confidential.
