A 64-year-old Colorado man apparently drowned Saturday (April 1, 2000) while diving in waters off the “Pine Trees” area north of Kailua-Kona.

The victim was pronounced dead at 11:10 a.m. at the Kona Community Hospital. Hospital personnel notified police of the death.

Police have ordered an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death, and they are withholding the victim’s name until his next of kin can be notified.
