Kona infant dies in apparent drowning 07-19-02

Police have identified an infant who died in an apparent drowning Thursday afternoon (July 18, 2002).

The victim was identified as Keelan Kalani Ken Tomita, 23 months old, of a Kaiminani Street address in the Kona Palisades subdivision of North Kona.

The infant was found in a swimming pool by a family member after family members noticed he was missing. The victim was taken to the Kona Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 3:17 p.m.

A medical inquiry was scheduled for Friday afternoon.
