Media Release

On 10-22-2007, Kona Patrol Officers arrested a hotel employee for allegedly sexually assaulting a female adult staying at that hotel. Corpus Taracena, M-37, of Kailua-Kona, was charged by Kona Sex Crimes Detectives on 10-23-2007 at 8:15 a.m. for several offenses, including Kidnapping, Sexual Assault in the First Degree, Attempted Sexual Assault in the First Degree. He is being held in the Kona Police Cellblock, in lieu of $15,000 bail, awaiting his appearance in court.

Police credit diligent security staff with distracting the suspect, which stopped his attack. This enabled the victim to escape and notify authorities.
