Kona man charged with burglary 04-12-13

A 23-year-old Kona man has been charged with several offenses in connection with a burglary on Queen Kalama Avenue in Kailua-Kona on April 5.

Tonino Benson of Kailua-Kona was arrested Wednesday (April 10) on suspicion of burglary. He was also arrested and charged with failure to appear in court and failure to return a rental vehicle in cases unrelated to the burglary. His bail for those offenses was $1,300. He appeared in court on Thursday for those charges and then was returned to the Kona police cellblock while detectives from the Area II Criminal Investigations Section continued the burglary investigation.

At 2:45 p.m. Friday (April 12) Benson was charged with burglary, theft, attempted theft and forgery. His bail on those charges was set at $11,000. He remains at the cellblock pending his court appearance Monday (April 15) for the charges related to the burglary.
