MEDIA RELEASE

Kona police have seized a total of 3,875 marijuana plants ranging in height from one to four feet as part of its continuing “Counter-Cannabis Field Operation.”

During a two-day operation Monday and Tuesday (June 26 and 27, 2000), officers conducted a sweep in the areas of Keahole, Kailua-Kona, Holualoa, Kealakekua, Captain Cook and Honaunau in North and South Kona.

Joining Big Island police officers in the marijuana eradication enforcement effort were personnel from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and the Hawaii National Guard.

No arrests were made, nor were any unusual incidents reported.
